Collinsville Sale Barn History

Although there have been several different owners over the years, Collinsville has had a Sale Barn since the mid 1930’s.  In the early days, the Sale Barn was located in the middle of town.  As time went on, the sales got too big and the time came for the Sale Barn to be moved to accommodate the crowds and all of the livestock being bought and sold.

In 1971, the Sale Barn was moved to a mile south of town on Old Highway 169.  At the time it was built, it was one of the nicest, most modern facilities in the State.

After the Dickey’s last sale in December 2007, we began a remodeling process to have some major items changed and updated before our first sale in January.

By our first sale on January 5, 2008. we had managed to get a fresh coat of paint it the arena, install new padded seating,  get new digital scales in place so we can show you the weight before the livestock enters the ring, we installed video monitors to display the number of head, gross weight and average weight, selling price and buyer ID.   We computerized the office for better recordkeeping and faster service for the Buyers and Sellers.

We also have the Grill opened back up.  We installed a new grill and now serve pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy for breakfast and hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch.  The coffee is always hot and fresh and refills are free.
